Best Candidates

Implants can restore one or several lost teeth by connecting the implant to a crown, denture, or bridge. You may prefer implant dentistry if you have a removable or cemented dental restoration but don't like the appearance, or fit. Dental implants can be maintained much like your normal teeth with daily flossing and brushing. At your consultation, Dr. Heher will evaluate the current state of your mouth and/or dental implant, determining the appropriate restoration needed. While rare, dental implant restoration may be necessary if the implant has been damaged or if an infection has developed around the implant.

What To Expect

Once Dr. Heher and the implant surgeon have collaborated and determined that you are a candidate for dental implant restoration and identified any underlying issues, he will create a personalized treatment plan to fit your needs. If an infection is present, the area will need to be thoroughly cleaned. A scaling and root planing treatment may be necessary. The length of the treatment and the techniques used can vary depending on the conditions being treated.

afterwards

There may be some short-term inflammation in your mouth and lower face, plus minor discomfort, and/or minor bleeding after your implant restoration procedure. Dr. Heher will discuss what is to be expected and what should be reported to our office. You should continue to adhere to a good oral care routine at home that includes daily brushing and flossing. You should also schedule annual exams and semi-annual professional cleanings at Smiles! Dentistry by Dr. Joseph Heher so Dr. Heher can evaluate the health of your mouth and implants. He will talk to you if your restorations or implants should be adjusted, repaired, or replaced.

Insurance Coverage

Based on your dental insurance company and personal coverage, part of the expenses of your restoration treatment may be paid for. A member of our team will contact your dental insurance company to understand your coverage and determine your personal cost. During your initial consultation with Dr. Heher, he may estimate your expenses and discuss payment methods our practice accepts, along with information on low-interest medical financing.
